Description: Belle River Community Credit Union was originally chartered in 1936 as the Farmer's Co-Op to assist farmers in the community to meet their financial needs. The Co-Op and Belle River Farmers Co-op were born during the depression when they knew they had nowhere else to turn but to themselves. Belle River Farmers Credit Union began with assets of $368.00 in 1936 with the Co-op launched two years later with stock shares of 180 families buying at $10.00 per share. The fledgling Co-op selling products at reduced rates and the credit union lending money to the its members both began to flourish, as members demonstrated their ability to serve and support. Description: In 1883, Barney Kroger invested his life savings of $372 to open a grocery store at 66 Pearl Street in downtown Cincinnati. The son of a merchant, he ran his business with a simple motto: “Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself.” It was a credo that would serve The Kroger Co. well over the next 130 years as the supermarket business evolved into a variety of formats aimed at satisfying the ever-changing needs of shoppers. With more than 2,600 stores in 34 states under two dozen banners and annual sales of more than $108.5 billion, Kroger today ranks as one of the world’s largest retailers. Many aspects of the company’s business today trace their roots to Mr. Kroger’s early efforts to serve his customers. Consider two specialty departments that today are regular fixtures in the company’s supermarkets – bakeries and meat and seafood shops. In the early 1900s, most grocers bought their bread from independent bakeries. But Mr. Kroger, always pursuing quality as the key ingredient for profit, recognized that if he baked his own bread, he could reduce the price for his customers and still make money. So, in 1901, he became the first grocer in the country to establish his own bakeries. He was also the first to sell meats and groceries under one roof.

Description: You may have heard the saying, “A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many.” This is at the core of the Moose organization and what makes us unique in our Lodges, local communities and charitable “cities” that we support. Our roots can be traced to 1888 and the founder of the Moose, Dr. Henry Wilson, who successfully established the first Lodge in Louisville, Kentucky. In the early years, the Moose was to serve a modest goal of offering men an opportunity to gather socially, to care for one another’s needs and celebrate life together. Since those early years, our fraternal organization rapidly expanded to include valuable service to our communities, care for children and teens in need at Mooseheart Child City & School , a 1,000-acre campus, located 40 miles west of Chicago and care for our senior members at Moosehaven, a 70-acre retirement community near Jacksonville, Florida.2With a combined membership of over 1,000,000 members, our presence is felt in over 1,500 communities across all 50 states and four Canadian provinces, plus Great Britain and Bermuda. The Moose organization contributes between $75 to $100 million worth of community service (counting monetary donations, volunteer hours worked and miles driven) annually. In addition to Mooseheart and Moosehaven, the Moose fraternity’s Heart of the Community effort is multifaceted with internally developed programs like Tommy Moose. Tommy Moose aids in helping children overcome fears and anxiety during times of stress. Donated to law enforcement, fire fighters and other emergency workers, Tommy Moose plush dolls are presented to children in various traumatic situations. The external focus of our service is directed towards many worthwhile national charities, a few of which are: Special Olympics North America, Salvation Army, Safe Surfin’USA Foundation, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, and St. Jude.In our local Lodges, you will find a wide array of activities to participate in both as an individual and as a family. From holiday parties, dances, sports, themed dinners and live entertainment, the Moose has much to offer. Membership can mean different things to different people. You are the one determining what you want to get out of the organization, and what you want to give back. The Moose is about celebrating life together, serving those in need within our local community, supporting our children at Mooseheart and standing by our senior members at Moosehaven. To find out more information on how to be a Moose, fill out the form below and someone will contact you with more information.

Description: The Richmond Area Historical and Genealogical Society (RAHGS) is a non-profit organization established in January 1990 when a group of citizens gathered in the Richmond Public Library to pursue a common interest: the preservation of a 19th Century one-room schoolhouse, which then was located in the middle of a cornfield owned by James McKiernan of Richmond Township. Shortly thereafter, the newly formed Society was offered a former Grand Trunk Railroad Depot from Columbus Township, which was located at that time on private property on Rattle Run owned by Joseph Maranzano. Members and interested individuals were able to save these historic buildings from the wrecking ball by moving them to the Bailey Park property donated by the City of Richmond. In 1996, the descendants of John Donley, formerly of Lenox Township, donated a log cabin, complete with outhouse, which was also moved to the park. In 2007 the Society raised funds and built a replica Blacksmith Shop to sit alongside the historic buildings. The building was completed in the spring of 2009 and serves as a museum, office space, and additional storage.

Description: Richmond Community Theatre (RCT) was founded in 1965 by Alice Morin and 36 theatre enthusiasts, sponsored by the City of Richmond and the Richmond Community Schools as part of a shared recreation program. Two years later when the shared agreement was concluded the Richmond Community Schools took on the Richmond Community Theatre as part of adult education. Previously housed in the Civic Auditorium, now the school administration building on Main Street, the Richmond Community Theatre in cooperation with the Richmond Community Schools became lease holders of the former First Congregational Church at 69619 Parker Street in Richmond. In 1973, with the acquisition of the former First Congregational Church, application was made to register the building as a State and National Historical Monument. The building now known as the Richmond Center for the Performing Arts is dedicated to the memory of Wallace Edlund, former Superintendent of the Richmond Community Schools, who was an inspiration and a practical advisor during the early days of planning for purchase of the former church. Historical registration was completed in 1975, after the renovation of the interior for use as an auditorium facility, and maintenance of the exterior in compliance with Historical Commission requirements. In 1975, Richmond Community Theatre became an independent, nonprofit corporation registered with the State of Michigan. The volunteer group, whose purpose is to provide the best live theatre possible to enhance amateur and educational programs in the area, is governed by an eleven person board. Membership of 36 in 1965 has grown to an active list of over 150, involving members and audience members from Macomb County, St. Clair County, Oakland County and Wayne County.

I am a multi-media artist using pen and ink, oils, watercolors, chalk, colored pencils, or just plain pencil, depending on the subject matter. Since we enjoy people so much our acreage allows us room to host a yearly art and craft show the third weekend each September.
